Acne Removal: 4 Natural Acne Spot Treatment Remedies

Acne scars can be embarrassing, but you don’t have to suffer with them. There are several ways to cover them up with makeup, and there are also several DIY treatments and home remedies for acne removal.

Dealing with scars can be a long process of trial and error. For the best results, use these remedies as soon as possible because fresh scars have a better chance of fading than older scars.

Furthermore, DIY treatments are only for minor acne scars so if these don’t work, you can try using a scar removal cream. If creams don’t work either, consult a dermatologist as laser treatment may be your best option.

1. Aloe Vera and Lemon Juice

Aloe vera gel is packed with vitamins to help the skin heal naturally and help fade or reduce scars and pimple marks. Aloe also helps your skin by moisturizing it, and it won’t irritate your skin because it is so gentle.

You can buy aloe vera gel at the pharmacy, but the best version comes straight from the plant. The plants are available in most greenhouses and are very easy to care for. When you need some fresh aloe, just break off the end of a leaf and peel away the top of the leaf.

Lemons, like most citrus fruits, contain alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), which is ideal for acne removal. AHA naturally exfoliates your skin, so it removes the top layer of dead skin cells. Lemon juice may also lighten your skin, which can be good if the scar is a darker color than your skin.

Mix the aloe vera with about a teaspoon of lemon juice and apply to the affected area. Massage briefly then leave it alone for about 10 minutes. Rinse when finished and repeat two to three times per week.

Lemon juice can make your skin more susceptible to a sunburn, so always use a sunscreen if you will be outside or try to avoid sunlight.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea, Sugar, and Honey

This concoction treats acne scars by a combination of lightning and exfoliation a moisturizing component necessary for seamless repairing of the skin.

Like lemon juice, apple cider vinegar is packed with AHA while green tea is naturally anti-inflammatory and powerful antioxidant that helps to stimulate collagen production.

Sugar is a natural exfoliant and a great home remedy for acne removal. Be aware that white sugar may be too abrasive for your face, so use brown sugar. Sugar also has natural glycolic acid, which is another alpha hydroxy acid to remove the top layer of dead cells and helps new cells form.

Add a tablespoon of honey last, mix and then massage the combination into the treatment area(s). Leave for 15 mins, rinse with lukewarm water and repeat twice per week.

3. Baking Soda

Baking soda is an inexpensive item that’s in most pantries and it’s one of the effective home remedies for pimple scars. The small crystals exfoliate the skin, which can help smooth the skin.

To use, make a paste with a tablespoon of baking soda and enough water to make a thick paste. You can also add a few drops of vitamin E oil as well.  Gently massage on your skin with your fingertips, moving in circles.

Let sit on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing and moisturizing. You can do this three to four times a week to ensure acne removal.

You can also use olive or rosehip oil instead of water if you have dry skin.

Sandalwood is a well-reputed acne scar treatment option in Indian medicine due to its cicatrisant properties. You can use either the powder or the essential oil in order to tackle your acne scars and reveal the smooth skin underneath.

Mix one tablespoon of sandalwood powder with a few drops of rosewater or milk to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to your acne scars and leave for 45 minutes (or overnight) and then rinse with lukewarm water.

If you want to know how to remove pimple scars, honey can also be used instead of rosewater or milk.

Acne Removal – The Takeaway

These DIY treatments can help reduce acne scarring and pimple marks, but they work in different ways. Try each one for a few weeks and pay attention to your progress. Depending on the size and age of the scars, however, they may or may not work for you.

If they are relatively ineffective, escalate to an acne removal cream then a certified dermatologist.
